Security Dilemma
Main Article Content
Abstract
The concept of the "Security Dilemma" is a relatively modern term in the field of international relations. It was first formulated by John Herz in the early 1950s in his book, *Political Realism and Political Idealism*. In Arabic, it is often translated as "the security predicament" or "the security impasse." The term describes a situation where a state's efforts to enhance its security inadvertently threaten the security of other states. This prompts those states to take countermeasures to protect themselves, which, in turn, can threaten the original state (Robinson, 2009).
