Abstract
Migration continues to shape the Arab region, influencing its economies, social fabric, security, and development trajectories. Whether driven by necessity or opportunity, voluntary or forced, internal or cross-border, migration is a multifaceted phenomenon that requires nuanced understanding and coordinated policy action. This policy brief classifies the major types of migration occurring in and across states and profiles the underlying drivers behind each. By doing so, it supports regional actors and policymakers in designing evidence-based migration strategies that are both humane and effective.
