Abstract

Artificial Superintelligence represents revolutionary progress but also poses serious dangers and profound national security challenges to the Arab world. Current artificial intelligence systems still rely on human oversight, but algorithms are quickly exceeding human monitoring capacities. Most Arab security frameworks do not yet grasp the severity of this threat. Key obstacles inhibiting Arab progress in superintelligence include inadequate digital infrastructure, data privacy restrictions, and limited computational resources. This heightens dangerous technological dependence and undermines Arab security interests. Additionally, risks include data misuse, workforce disruption, and data colonialism by dominant technology corporations. The prospect of autonomous weapons and robotic soldiers being used in the battlefield raises profound concerns about misalignment with human values and ethics. Delegating life-or-death decisions to AI systems can be disastrous. Proactive policies are urgently needed before containment becomes impossible. To address these multifaceted challenges, Arab governments must strategically invest in infrastructure and expertise, establish regulatory frameworks, ensure fair data representation, develop control mechanisms, and promote international collaboration. The window of opportunity is small, necessitating urgent action to prepare for the approaching AI superintelligence era.
